Why you recognise Hollyoaks’ Stuart Sumner actor Chris Simmons

Hollyoaks have confirmed The Bill actor Chris Simmons has joined the soap as Stuart Sumner.

Hollyoaks is often casting familiar faces for roles on the Channel 4 soap, and now it’s confirmed another newcomer is on the way.

Stuart Sumner is being introduced to the show, with his exact reasons for heading to Hollyoaks village not yet revealed.

With him set to cross paths with Kieron Richardson ’s character Ste Hay, he’s bound to be at the centre of the drama in no time.

But there’s a reason you may recognise the actor who plays newcomer Stuart. Here’s all you need to know…

Who is Stuart on Hollyoaks?

Stuart is a new character on the soap, whose casting was announced in February.

While he’s made a brief appearance on the soap, he has not yet joined full-time but will be back soon.

Not much is known about the character yet, or if he has any links.

Who is the actor who plays Stuart?

Newcomer Stuart is played by actor Chris Simmons.

Speaking of the new role, Chris said: “I’m delighted to join the cast of Hollyoaks. For me to play Stuart is a real challenge that I relish.

What else has the actor been in?

Chris is possibly most recognised for his role as DC Mickey Webb in The Bill.

His other TV roles include appearances on EastEnders, Casualty, Suspects, Holby City and Doctors.

What brings Stuart to the village?

It’s not been confirmed why he has arrived on the show, other than that he is linked to the cafe called The Teahouse, formerly known as Esther’s Magic Bean.

Stuart will cross paths with other characters, while Ste is currently the only person confirmed that he will appear in scenes with.

Hollyoaks airs weeknights on Channel 4 at 6:30pm, with the following episode on E4 at 7pm.
