“I wanted to sit on a porch with my sister wives,” Robyn says through tears and a shaky voice in a preview for next week’s episode
No one took Meri and Kody Brown’s separation harder than Robyn Brown.
In a sneak peek at next week’s episode of Sister Wives, shown after Sunday’s episode, the OG Brown family couple reached a major conclusion: they’re ready to end their marriage.
As Robyn, 45, is ready to “advocate” on Meri’s behalf to save her marriage from further crumbling, Meri notes in a confessional: “I’m not going to apologize for what I need to do.”
In the next scene, Meri looks upset as her head remains down while Kody, 54, speaks to her about their future. “You want something that we can’t have together,” the Brown family patriarch says.
This declaration leaves Robyn — who was also present for the conversation — distraught, resulting in her breaking down in tears. Kody understands why his fourth wife is so upset, noting to the cameras that Robyn entered the family “specifically to live plural marriage.”
“I wanted to sit on a porch with my sister wives,” Robyn says through tears and a shaky voice.
Kody then notes that “this appears to be the end of our plural marriage.” After, the final shot shows a close-up shot of Meri and Robyn holding hands.
The sneak peek also sees Janelle Brown speaking with Christine Brown’s brothers about her own future in polygamy, noting that they “were raised in a culture where marriage is forever.” But she notes separately to the cameras: “I’m still spiritually married to Kody. Like, I don’t know how to get a divorce that way.”
Kody’s marriages to Christine, 51, Janelle, 54, and Meri, 52, all crumbled within 14 months. He now is living monogamously with Robyn.
As season 18 of Sister Wives has progressed, fans have been able to witness the breakdown of his three marriages and how he’s moved forward solo with Robyn. It has also featured aspects of Kody’s complicated relationships with his children, including his estrangement from his sons with Janelle.
When it comes to his marriage to Meri, in particular, the pair — who confirmed their split in January after 32 years of marriage — have faced challenges for the last several years. Their marriage failed to recover after Meri was catfished by a woman posing as a male admirer.
It was on their 32nd wedding anniversary celebration that Kody then declared he had “no desire” to “have a relationship” with Meri, leading the mother of one to contemplate her next steps.
