Holby City fans are delighted as an iconic star is set to return to Casualty in a special crossover episode after the BBC drama ended last year.

The spin-off to medical drama Casualty abruptly finished in March 2022 after 23 years on screen, leaving fans devastated.

But a year on, Holby City fan favourite Sacha Levy is set to return to screens in Casualty.

Fans were teased with the return of Sacha on the show’s Instagram page as they posted a photo of actor Bob Barrett in character.

The post was captioned: “Calling all @bbcholbycity fans! Sacha Levy is back! #Casualty Saturday 8:50pm on BBC One.”

Fans were quick to celebrate the return as one wrote: “Aww that’s made my day I’ve missed him.”

Another added: “I miss Holby so much.”

“Aww yay, missed his shirts!! Would love to see Fletch back too,” said someone else.

One fan commented: “Great News. I agree more of the cast of Holly should be in Casualty.”

“This has made my day. Lovely Sacha,” expressed another.

Sacha’s return to Casualty was teased by actor Jason Durr, who had shared a snap of him and Bob together on social media back in October.

He wrote: “Had a gas with the lovely #bobbarrett on the @bbccasualtyofficial set recently #bbccasualty #holbycity.”

Bob has been in a crossover episode before when Sacha was involved in a severe car crash in 2019.

The BBC drama has been on screens since 1986 and follows staff and patients of the A&E department at the fictional Holby City Hospital.

Holby City star Davood Ghadami has called for the return of the BBC soap, just hours after Neighbours was rebooted by Amazon's Freevee

Holby City star Davood Ghadami has called for the return of the BBC soap

Holby City was axed by the BBC last year after over two decades on screen, as the BBC told fans the “tough decision” had come as a result of the BBC’s commitment to make more programmes across the UK.

Holby City star Davood Ghadami called for the show to return to screens, much like Neighbours reboot after Amazon’s Freevee picked it up.

Taking to Twitter, Davood wrote: “This is great news for @neighbours, I’m really very pleased for them! Worth mentioning that @BBCHolbyCity had higher viewing figures, hellooooo @AmazonFreevee.”
