In a recent interview with Soap Opera Digest, Michael, who plays Dr. Hamilton Finn, revealed he was deeply hurt when he found out he was being written off. He admitted, “You get wounded a little bit, and part of your head’s going, ‘Well, just do the exit material and be done with it.'” Instead of succumbing to that mindset, Michael delivered performances that are likely to earn him a Daytime Emmy in 2025. Ultimately, he left Port Charles with a profound sense of gratitude for his time on the show. He shared, “Anything else just becomes like poison to you if you let it into your heart, and that poison will stop you from creating beautiful things going forward.”
Michael posted a heartfelt video after wrapping up his final scenes, expressing his gratitude and honesty. “My last moments were really spent in the car with Josh. We took it outside the studio at the end of the night. I managed to contain myself and not cry. I spent around 45 minutes sitting in the dark in my dressing room after we finished,” he shared with a laugh. He joked about worrying they’d change the locks on his door and take away his security pass because everyone had gone home, and the lights were off. Sitting there in the dark, he realized the corridors were deserted, like a ghost town. He decided it was time to say goodbye and walked out the door, closing that chapter of his life in a modest and poignant way.
Michael’s departure leaves fans wondering about the future of his character. General Hospital spoilers hint that Dr. Hamilton Finn will not meet a tragic end but will instead join Doctors Without Borders, continuing his narrative outside Port Charles. While fans speculate about a potential recast, many agree that Michael Easton was perfect for the role, and it’s hard to imagine anyone else stepping into Finn’s shoes.
