General Hospital (GH) spoilers suggest fans are shocked by the news that Kelly Monaco, and her character, Sam McCall will be leaving the soap come the fall. Reports indicate that Sam will be killed off, and Monaco was “blindsided” by the show’s decision to fire her.

This has thrown GH fans into a frenzy over social media. Sam McCall and Monaco have been on the soap for over 20 years, and she’s one of the more popular characters on the show right now.

Not only does Sam have family roots in Port Charles, but she also has a young family in Scout Quartermaine (Cosette Abinante) at Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn).

Overall, when an actor/character leaves a daytime drama, there are bound to be upset fans; however, there is a stir in the air when it comes to Kelly and Sam. Looks like the show is set to face a ton of fan fury and backlash.

Could Monaco get the Rebecca Herbst treatment?

Back in 2011, Herbst was fired from GH after 14 years on the show.

Both fans and costars alike – Kelly Monaco, Jonathan Jackson (Lucky Spencer), and Tyler Christoper (then-Nikolas Cassadine) – hit social media and used other venues to let the show know how loved Rebecca was, and how she shouldn’t be leaving the soap.

About four weeks later, Herbst was signed back on.

There was also worry in 2016 that Rebecca was leaving after contract negotiations stalled and ABC exec Nathan Varni went public.

The actress had talks with Days of Our Lives, however, the fans showed up once more, and Herbst re-signed with General Hospital.

Could the same scenario happen for Monaco? It seems as if she’s been fired and doesn’t want to leave the soap where she feels at home.

There are some rumblings from fans of letters being sent and users on X have been in a tweeting frenzy since Kelly/Sam’s exit was announced.

General Hospital spoilers imply that the power fans hold over shows is tremendous.

Should the effort be put into this, there’s always a chance that GH could reverse its decision. But will they?
