Coronation Street’s Georgia Taylor first arrived on the cobbles back in 1997 and has played Toyah Habeed on and off ever since.

Georgia Taylor is best known for playing Toyah Habeeb (nee Battersby) in Coronation Street having been in the role on and off since 1997. However she had also had another high profile role in long running BBC medical drama Casualty where she played Dr Ruth Winters for four years.

The star looks a million miles away from Toyah in the role, which she played from 2007 to 2011. While these days she sports sleek highlights and loose waves in her Casualty days her hair was a very dark brown with a fringe and far less polished.

During her time on Casualty she also starred opposite a future Coronation Street star in the shape of Tristan Gemmell who played Tracy Barlow’s ex-husband Robert Preston. He played Doctor Adam Trueman in the medical drama.

Another noteable cast member during her tenture was Hollywood star Simon McCorkindale. He played Harry Harper in the show for six years but left in 2008 – just one year after Georgia joined the show.

Georgia’s character Ruth was an ambitious medical student from a troubled family. She was clever, hardworking and focused and always performed well academically.

Her professional ambition had always come at the expense of her social and personal life and being a doctor was her ambition since childhood and it seemed to be all that mattered to her.

She was at the centre of several huge storylines during her time on the show including one where she she attempted suicide after seriously misdiagnosing several patients and failing to bond with the team.

She eventually recovered and returned to work but was to prove unlucky in love when new clinical lead Nick Jordan (Michael French) rejected her after they had a one night stand.

She later married influential surgeon Edward Thurlow, but she was devastated when he didn’t give her a surgical promotion and she then discovered he was gay and he eventually left her for a man.

Following the break up she threw herself into work but suffered a breakdown in the ED and she was sectioned after attempting to operate on a patient in the on call room.

This led to her being diagnosed as bi-polar although she returned to work part time despite her diagnosis.

She left the show after she became trapped during a fire in the ED and following the drama she quit the hospital and was last seen leaving Holby in a camper van in 2011.

It would be another five years before she returned to the cobbles having originally departed Coronation Street in 2003.

Since her return she has been at the centre of many dramatic storylines including killing her husband Imran Habeeb by crashing their car after she learned that he had cheated on her.
