In today’s update, EJ shatters Nicole and Eric’s dreams, while Theresa makes a terrifying discovery.
On Wednesday, July 17th, Teresa Donovan (Emily O’Brien) ran into Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) in the town square. Desperate for a wedding cake for her upcoming double wedding, Teresa begged Chanel to help, and Chanel agreed. As Chanel headed into Sweet Bits to gather ingredients, Sophia Choi (Meline Ke) approached Teresa. They discussed Holly Jonas (Ashley Pimus), and Teresa mentioned Tate (Leo Howard) being at lacrosse camp. Sophia flashed back to watching Tate and Holly’s secret summer plans. Though she almost revealed their secret, she held back, considering it was Teresa’s big day.
At the Horton Lodge, Holly and Tate shared some intimate moments before being interrupted by a knock at the door. Ignoring it didn’t help, as Sophia was on the other side, busting the pair.
Meanwhile, at the DiMera mansion, Johnny (Carson Boatman) found EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) drinking and contemplating Nicole Walker’s (Arianne Zucker) request for a divorce. Johnny confronted EJ about his deception and urged him to sign the papers. Although EJ softened, he warned he wouldn’t allow Nicole and Eric to live happily ever after.
At Eric Brady’s (Greg Vaughan) place, Nicole questioned Eric about his plans to move to Paris. Eric admitted he’d been running from his pain but was reconsidering now that he had his son Jude (Oliver McLardy) back. Nicole confessed she never got over Eric and would have left EJ if she’d known Eric was Jude’s father. As they leaned in for a kiss, EJ interrupted, handing over unsigned divorce papers and vowing to prevent their happiness.
Elsewhere, Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) shocked Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) by announcing his marriage to Theresa that very day. Despite his initial reluctance, Brady decided to attend, given Alex was family. However, Theresa, overwhelmed by her emotions, realized Tate was at lacrosse camp and panicked, wanting him at her wedding.
Back at Eric’s, Nicole arrived to pick up Jude, and Eric, delighted, shared how having Jude felt like a dream. Nicole, worried about her living situation, was reassured by Eric about Holly’s happiness for him. Nicole revealed her plan to divorce EJ, aiming to ensure Jude’s stability. Eric, surprised but supportive, expressed his desire to start over in Salem with Nicole and Jude. As they moved in for another kiss, EJ stormed in, declaring he wouldn’t let them ride off into the sunset.
