Chicago Fire Season 13 Video Spoils Sam Carver’s Fate After Season 12 Finale Cliffhanger

Sam Carver’s fate after the season 12 finale is revealed in the new Chicago Fire season 13 set video. Firehouse 51 is looking at a rocky year ahead. On top of their already challenging job as first responders, they also have to deal with personal issues, and losing several members has been very difficult. Following the departures of Blake Gallo, Sylvie Brett, and Derrick Gibson, the Chicago Fire season 12 finale also saw Firehouse 51 say goodbye to Chief Wallace Boden. Aside from that, it also left stories unfinished, including Carver’s unsure status in the show.

In a new video from Miranda Mayo on Instagram, Jake Lockett is back as Sam Carver on the set of Chicago Fire season 13. Check out the image below:

In the video, Lockett is goofing with his Chicago Fire co-star Hanako Greensmith, who also plays Carver’s love interest, Violet Mikami. Season 12 left their romance up in the air, however, after he unexpectedly went on another furlough.

Why Chicago Fire Season 13 Can’t Afford To Lose Sam Carver Now
Firehouse 51’s Chicago Fire Season 13 Will Be Rocky

Carver is Kidd’s right-hand person, and considering all the changes that they are facing, she could use someone who is tried and tested by her side.

For such a short year, Firehouse 51 went through so much in Chicago Fire season 12. Matt Casey and Brett got married, while Kelly Severide and Stella Kidd sorted out their marriage after their problematic relationship since the Chicago Fire season 11 finale. It was also revealed that the mysterious Jack Damon is Benny Severide’s son. That’s all on top of Chief Boden’s unexpected departure. Not addressing Carver’s fate right away would only add to the stresses that Firehouse 51 will already be facing in Chicago Fire season 13, and they certainly don’t need more drama.

Additionally, losing Carver would once again force Stella Kidd to search for another new character that could fill his spot on Truck 81. Damon can still leave at any time, especially given the status of his relationship with his half-brother. Kylie Estevez may be joining the team permanently in season 13, but she’s still very new to the job. Carver is Kidd’s right-hand person, and considering all the changes that they are facing, she could use someone who is tried and tested by her side. Losing him could hamper her squad.

On top of Carver’s importance in Firehouse 51, not having him around would mean that Chicago Fire season 13 would lose the best romance that the show has seen in years. The season 12 finale set up a love story between him and Violet. Whether they can pick things up where they left them off is unclear at this point, but at least One Chicago can continue developing their affair, which is a much-needed aspect of the series’ storytelling.
