‘Chicago Fire,’ ‘Law & Order’ and More Shows Getting Cast Changes for Fall 2024

We’re currently in the middle of a season break for our favorite shows; the finales (mostly) aired in June and the premieres are set to begin in September. But filming has already begun for new seasons on a number of shows, and we’re also getting casting news for our favorite shows.

Jason George on 'Station 19'; Jocelyn Hudon as Novak in 'Chicago Fire' Season 12 Episode 9

That includes new characters as well as some departing actors. For example, Found is adding a few new characters, Grey’s Anatomy appears to be losing two characters but bringing back a regular, and a Chicago Police Department vet is moving to another Dick Wolf show, FBI: International. Additionally, Chicago Fire has promoted a character and is looking for a new lead, and 9-1-1: Lone Star is losing a cast member.

Below, we’re tracking every cast addition, departure, and status change for the shows returning to air in fall 2024. (This doesn’t include any changes that have already occurred or characters who have been written out for the 2023-2024 season.) Chicago Fire After a few big departures in season 12, there will be changes for 51. With Eamonn Walker leaving and Boden becoming Deputy Chief, the plan in the finale seemed to be for Herrmann (David Eigenberg) to take over. But now it’s been revealed that 51 will have a new chief. According to Deadline, the series regular, who may be called Dom Pascal, started at CFD before moving to Miami. He’s “a fun guy who works well under pressure and has a different leadership style than Boden.” The outlet also reports that Jocelyn Hudon, who recurred in Season 12, is staying on and has been promoted to series regular; Novak will continue to ride Ambulance 61 with Violet (Hanako Greensmith).

Chicago Med ED will need a new doctor in Season 10! Dominic Rains will not be returning as a series regular in the fall, Deadline reports. The Season 9 finale saw his character, Dr. Crockett Marcel, take time off after losing a difficult patient (a young boy’s surgery was canceled due to an infection, the boy later died, and the boy’s grieving father later committed suicide), but it looks like he’ll be back. We’ll have to see if he shows up in the Season 10 premiere, then gets written out, or if we hear from others that he’s no longer at the hospital.
