The star will reportedly play a surgeon on the BBC soap.
Call the Midwife star Olly Rix is reportedly being lined up to star in Casualty.
The actor exited the BBC drama earlier in 2024 after three years, as his character Matthew Aylward departed for New York.
However, according to The Sun, Olly has now joined Casualty, with the actor reportedly set to play a surgeon in the BBC soap. While further details are under wraps, the actor will apparently make his debut on the show next year.
Ahead of his Call the Midwife exit, Olly was subject to rumours that he would be leaving the show, the star teasing at the time to OK! Magazine: “It’s great being part of the Call the Midwife family. For now.”
He also revealed he had some work lined up in the US, adding: “I’ll be doing some… American stuff, I think. But I can’t say just yet. Sorry, hopefully you’ll find out soon.”
In other Casualty news, former star Suzanne Packer has shut down rumours that she could be in line for a return as Tess Bateman.
“There’s no truth to this,” she told The One Show of the speculation. “I wish I could give you an exclusive. No, not at all.”
Asked if she would be interested in a comeback, Suzanne added: “I would say talk to my agent! It’s definitely not a no. It’s a wonderful, wonderful show.”
Meanwhile, the BBC soap has recently introduced a mysterious new character in the Cam Mickelthwaite storyline.
Casualty airs on Saturday nights on BBC One and now streams first on BBC iPlayer, where episodes are released at 6am on the day of transmission.
