BBC Casualty fans all say the same thing as Rash Masum suffers devastating tragedy

Casualty’s Rash Masum has been struggling for several weeks as he tries to juggle caring for his dementia-stricken father alongside working in Holby ED.

BBC Casualty fans were left in tears after the latest episode which saw tragedy befall Nash Masum (played by Neet Mohan). The young NHS doctor has been struggling in recent weeks as he has juggled caring for his dementia-stricken father, Ashok (Kriss Dosanjh), with working in Holby ED.

He had engaged the help of his friend Rida Amaan (Sarah Seggari) and between the two of them, they managed to look after him. Therefore Rash thought nothing about leaving her alone with him while he paid a quick visit to work even though it was his day off.

However, he was barely in the door when he crossed paths with a man who appeared to have Ebola (played by The Upper Hand star Joe McGann). This meant he had to be isolated from the patient as they attempted to confirm his diagnosis.

Meanwhile, Rida thought all was well with Ashok, but when she turned her back he wandered off. Unable to get Rash on the phone as he was still dealing with the patient, she arrived at the hospital in a panic.

She breathlessly explained she felt it was time to call the police as Faith tried to calm her down. Before they could mount a further search though, Ashok was brought in by the paramedics having been hit by a bus.

Rash and Rida Casualty still

A devastated Rida told Rash that his father had been brought in but as he was still in isolation he was unable to be with him. It eventually transpired that the patient wasn’t contagious and had merely consumed some dodgy diet pills.

Rash ran to be with his father but he was too late. Just as he arrived, Ashok died in emotional scenes as his shellshocked son took it out on Rida. Viewers were distraught for the young medic and took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their feelings.

@nigelharmanfan posted an image of Rash from the show and raved: “Meanwhile in today’s episode this guy has had me bawling Superb stuff from @neetmohanThere’s a powerful montage with music at the end and it’s very moving Superb episode all round and well done to everyone involved #casualty.”

@mishybabez_ agreed writing: “Tonights #casualty was emotional,” followed by a crying and a broken heart emoji. @Mineycart opined: “#casualty That ending … My heart … So powerful.” @sebsbucky106 added: “Casualty just breaking my heart tonight.” @Lizzie89x lamented: “Oh #Casualty – you did it again. As someone with a parent with dementia, it takes two seconds for something to happen. Even going to the bathroom. Cried my eyes out at that episode ending because it is unfortunately entirely plausible. Well done to the cast/crew/writers.”

@Tom_Muzzy_2001 commented: “Just finished watching today’s @BBCCasualty episode and wow what a powerful episode. @neetmohan @elinor_lawless was incredible in it! #casualty.” @callikitson praised the performances saying: “@neetmohan is amaaaaazinggggggg in tonight’s ep #Casualty.”

Stevie Nash in Casualty

Elsewhere in the episode, Stevie Nash (Elinor Lawless) learned that the hospital board was backing her following the death of a patient she turned away last week. There was a provision though – she must attend a conflict resolution course.

The pressure of recent weeks seemed to be getting to her and the usually stoic medic started to show signs of breaking down when she treated a former UDA (Ulster Defence Force) member and her friend Faith Cadogan (Kirsty Mitchell) encouraged her to seek help.

Although she began to dial the wellbeing team she didn’t follow through on the call despite being distraught.
