BBC Casualty fans all say the same thing as Dylan Keogh ‘s future ‘confirmed’

Casualty’s Dylan Keogh walked out of Holby ED recently and fans feared he was gone for good.

Casualty’s Dylan Keogh (played by William Beck) returned to screens tonight having left viewers guessing at his future after he walked out of the ED. It had been uncertain if viewers had seen the last of the character but tonight he was paid a visit at home by colleague Stevie Nash (Elinor Lawless).

Dylan was still struggling following the death of two patients and believed that he missed a penicillin allergy. As Stevie looked around his home she saw that he had been reading reams of research papers on the subject. “This is a deep dive, Dylan,” she pointed out.

“We wouldn’t be here if I’d read them earlier,” he said. “You know you shouldn’t be kicking yourself for a one-in-10,000 event,” Stevie berated him. “But he wasn’t just one there was another patient that died completely avoidable,” Dylan clapped back.

Although Stevie tried to explain that it takes more than one person to make an error which can lead to a patient’s death, Dylan was having none of it. “Please don’t. You wouldn’t have missed a penicillin allergy, would you? I wouldn’t expect that in a first-year [student doctor],” he said.

“I’ve just assumed the patients are safe with me. But perhaps they’re not perhaps I’ve been relying on muscle memory,” he confessed with glaring insecurity.

He then revealed that Clinical Lead Patrick Onley’s (Jamie Glover) accusation that he was autistic seemed to have hit a nerve as he told Stevie he was getting tested. Unprepared to leave it at that she asked him to take her through everything he had researched. However, there was no indication as to whether he would return to the ED or if this was the beginning of an exit storyline.

Regardless of the circumstances viewers were delighted to see him back on screen. They took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their feelings.

Mary penned: Bring Dylan back…#Casualty.” A second added: “Dylan is doubting himself as a doctor bless him #casualty.”

A third noted: “I’m autistic and relate to Dylan so much – It’s realistic, sadly people like Patrick exist. His behaviour towards Dylan being autistic & making him think he can’t do his job because of that has really affected Dylan’s confidence and is making him question everything. #casualty.”

Another said: “They’re doing Dylan’s storyline brilliantly – really showing how people who have an attitude like Patrick’s towards autism/questioning someone’s abilities can have a huge impact on someone who is autistic. #casualty.” A fifth penned: “And thank you for giving us Dylan Keogh back #casualty.”

Elsewhere in the episode Jacob Masters (Charles Venn) took custody of his grandchild in emotional scenes.

Siobhan McKenzie (Melanie Hill) learnt that a Whistleblower had shared the bodycam footage she accidnetally sent to everyone with the media. She was visibly shaken as Patrick informed her that a TV show about the ED was set to be broadcat because of it.

Meanwhile Rash Masum (Neet Mohan) got a shock when his therpaist arrived into the ED for treatment. He got an even bigger surprise when she didn’t recognise him.
