Chicago Fire reveals the following.
Chicago Fire has shared departing star Eamonn Walker’s final moments on set.
Earlier this month, it was confirmed that the actor would be leaving the show as Chief Wallace Boden, with his final scenes set to air in this week’s season 12 finale.
A clip has now been shared by Instagram account One Chicago, showing Walker’s co-stars and crew gathering to applaud him after his final scenes have been filmed.
He then tells his co-stars: “I just want to say: Best cast. Best crew. Best production. Best job of my life. Thank you.”
In Boden’s final episode, he applied for the position of Deputy Commissioner of the Chicago Fire Department, which he eventually landed.
However, it appears the actor will still appear on the show as a regular cast member in the future.
Following his departure, showrunner Dick Wolf paid tribute to Walker, telling Deadline: “Eamonn was the first actor cast on Chicago Fire, and we knew that when he said yes, we were off and running.
“His character, Chief Wallace Boden, was the undisputed leader of Firehouse 51, and in real life, Eamonn has filled that same role with our cast.”
Showrunner Andrea Newman also spoke about filming the final episode with Walker, explaining that “every minute with him was a gift.” “Eamonn is the most dedicated, passionate, hardworking, devoted actor (and human being) I know, and he is like a father figure to every cast and crew member on this team,” she said. “He is loved more than anyone else.
“Any change to his position on Fire is like an earthquake hitting. The atmosphere on set for the final episode was just to hold on to Eamonn as tight as possible. Every minute with him was a gift.”
