Intelligence will look a little different when Chicago P.D. returns for its 12th season in September. Tracy Spiridakos’ final episode is the finale of Season 11, and with it, Detective Hailey Upton leaves CPD for locations unknown. (“We wanted [that] final moment to feel hopeful. There are so many opportunities and now she has a world of possibilities. So I like the idea that we kept it real.” open-ended,” executive producer Gwen Sigan told TV Insider after a screening of the finale.)
So how will the rest of the team, including Officer Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins), handle it? What kind of new teammate does he want to fill that position?
“To be honest with you, I don’t think I’m really worried about my teammates as much as I’m really interested in being a detective, because it seems like we don’t have any detectives in the unit,” Hawkins admitted. receive. TV Insider at the Television Critics Association summer press tour. “Maybe someone should step up. Someone might be worthy of that role with those responsibilities, but of course it depends on authority.”
“Do you see the campaign trail we’re testifying about right now?” asks Chicago Med’s Jessy Schram. Fire’s David Eigenberg agrees: “He’s scanning the audience for the pulse of this thing.” They both agreed that they could see Hawkins’ detective character.
After all, Hawkins was right about the ranks in Intelligence going into Season 12. Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) is a sergeant, while Atwater, Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger), Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Dante Torres (Benjamin ) Levy Aguilar) are both officers. The possibility of promoting one of those officers to a detective position is something Sigan knows people want to see.
“That’s always a possibility. I think in terms of story, it’s not as interesting a story as you’d expect,” she told us. “It’s really a test and then they do the same thing. So yes, that’s definitely a possibility. I think they’re all ready for it because they’ve earned it.”
Regarding coming up with a new character with Intelligence’s limited staff, after the finale, Sigan said, “It’ll be interesting to come up with some ideas and a new character and what a new character can be added and how it will change. unit dynamics and new stories to tell. I think it will invite the program a lot to have new people join.”
