Fans of medical drama Casualty want a missing episode made available on BBC iPlayer.

The episode was due to be shown this weekend but was scrapped by the BBC due to ‘inappropriate’ content during the current coronavirus pandemic.

An announcement before last night’s instalment said: “The episode we were due to watch tonight, filmed before the spread of Covid-19, was considered inappropriate to show at the moment.”

The episode that aired on Saturday night instead included a short catch-up that filled viewers in on scenes from the major storylines that they will have missed due to the transmission of the preceding instalment being skipped.

The announcer continued before it started: “But never fear. everything we need to know from that episode is in a catch up right at the start of the programme.”

However, the short recap before this weekend’s episode wasn’t enough for some fans, who have now taken to social media calling for the BBC to make the missing instalment available on their catch-up service, BBC iPlayer.

One fan wrote on Twitter : “I assumed I’d missed one so checked iPlayer but no. Turns out the BBC decided to cut it!

“Please put it on iPlayer so I can decide whether to watch it!!”

Another disappointed viewer commented: “Can’t they just put it on iplayer then? Gives people a choice on whether they want to watch or not! #casualty ”

Elsewhere, a third Casualty fan commented: “That missing episode of #Casualty looks great. Bonkers decision not to show it.

“I understand the reasoning but I disagree with it.”

Another Twitter user thought the missing episode could have helped give some viewers a realistic look at what we’re all currently facing.

They tweeted: “Deemed inappropriate? Maybe show the episode and give people the reality check they need to keep them in the bloody house #casualty.”

Finally, one Casualty viewer concluded: “Hope they put the missing episode on iPlayer.

“I get they didn’t want to show it and the white suits on the preview suggest a virus situation but I still wanna watch it! We’ve missed a massive Marty storyline! #Casualty ”

Regardless of whether the BBC do eventually make the episode available to fans, Casualty will now be on a break until May 23 when it will return with its next episode.
