Chicago Fire recruits how to get away with murder for season 12

It looks like Chicago Fire have filled Gallo’s void.

Chicago Fire' Season 12: Rome Flynn Cast as New Firefighter

The NBC drama has tapped Rome Flynn (How to Get Away With Murder) to recur in Season 12 as a potential recruit for Truck 81, our sister site Deadline reports, saying adding that the role could expand to something larger.

Flynn – who first appeared in Episode 2 – will play Jake Gibson, a brave former amateur boxer with a dark past who comes into Truck’s sights after an act of heroism. And the fire station will definitely need new blood following the departure of firefighter Blake Gallo, who played Alberto Rosende leaving the series in the Season 12 opener.
Flynn’s other television credits include With Love, Grey’s Anatomy, Raising Dion, Dear White People and The Haves and the Have Nots.

As previously reported, there will be more cast changes on Fire: Kara Killmer will return to the show for Season 12 – but this will be her last year as paramedic Sylvie Brett . The exact schedule/episode for her exit has yet to be revealed.

On the plus side, leading man Taylor Kinney will return as Lt. Kelly Severide for at least the beginning of the upcoming season. The actor took a break from the show in January to deal with personal issues. A recently released promo teased Severide’s long-awaited homecoming and his reunion with wife Stella.

In other #OneChicago news, Tracy Spiridakos, who plays Detective Hailey Upton on Chicago P.D., is leaving the police drama after its upcoming 11th season. Meanwhile, Luke Mitchell (Blindspot) has joined Chicago Med as the new Emergency Department physician for Season 9.

Chicago Fire Season 12 will premiere on Wednesday, January 17 at 8pm on the 9th in a shortened 13-episode season.
