Here’s How Brett Responded to Casey’s Surprise Proposal on Chicago Fire

After Season 11’s cliffhanger proposal, “Brettsey” fans are preparing for wedding bells.

Fans have been patiently waiting for the return of Chicago Fire, and it’s finally here.

Chi-Hards were particularly perched to learn whether Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) accepted Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer)’s proposal, and — spoiler alert — she did!

For context: Brett and Casey dated on Chicago Fire after several seasons of sweltering chemistry. Sadly for fans, Casey’s Season 10 move to Portland led to long-distance woes for the couple and, eventually, a breakup. Brett attempted to move on with her life in Season 11. She focused on work, friends, and realized she wanted to be a mother. The Season 11 finale ended with Brett becoming legal guardian of a baby girl named Julia.

That’s also, of course, when Casey showed up on Brett’s doorstep with a glimmering engagement ring and an important question. Read, below, to find out exactly what happened after the proposal during the Chicago Fire Season 12 premiere.

Did Brett accept Casey’s proposal on Chicago Fire?
Pop the champagne, Chi-Hards — Brett said yes!

The Season 12 premiere (“Barely Gone”) picked up six months after Season 11’s finale and Casey’s proposal. Fans found out Brett’s answer in a super cheeky way: She got her ring caught in her locker door, and Violet (Hanako Greensmith) swooped in to help.

While chatting about the wedding with Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo), Brett revealed that the ceremony will be family-only.

“Which includes 51, of course,” Brett lovingly added.

Brett is leaving Chicago to be with Casey in Oregon

During a break at the firehouse, Brett scanned wedding dress options with Violet when Mouch (Christian Stolte) stopped by and asked, “Have you picked a day and date for the wedding?”

“It’s a month and a half away, invitations are coming out shortly,” Brett said.

“Here in Chicago, right?” Mouch asked.

“Yes,” Brett confirmed. “But right after, Julia and I are moving to Oregon to be with Matt and the boys.”

“What?” Mouch exclaimed before adding, “I thought you were going to wait until the fall before you left.”

“I was,” Brett admitted. “But Matt and I talked it through, and the truth is, we’ve waited long enough to be together full-time.”
