‘Chicago Fire,’ ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and More Shows with Cast Changes for Fall 2024

We’re currently in a lull between seasons of our favorite broadcast shows; The final seasons (mostly) aired in June and the first shows will begin in September. However, filming has already begun on new seasons for some shows and we are also Get casting news for our favorite movies.

That includes new additions as well as some upcoming exits. For example, Found is adding some new characters, Grey’s Anatomy appears to be losing two characters but bringing back a series regular, and a new Chicago P.D. vet is heading to another Dick Wolf show, FBI: International. Additionally, Chicago Fire has promoted a new main character and is looking to cast a new main character, and 9-1-1: Lone Star is losing a main character.

Below, we’re tracking every status change, addition, and cast appearance for shows returning to air in fall 2024. (This doesn’t include any changes changes have occurred or characters have been written out in the 2023-2024 season.)
Chicago fire
After some major exits in Season 12, there will be changes to Season 51. With Eamonn Walker’s departure and Boden becoming Deputy Commissioner, the plan in the final season appears to be for Herrmann (David Eigenberg) take over. But now it has been revealed that the 51 will have a new leader. According to Deadline, the main character of the series can be called Dom Pascal who started in CFD before moving to Miami. He is “a cheerful person who works well under pressure and has a different leadership style than Boden.” The outlet also reported that Jocelyn Hudon, who reappeared in Season 12, remained attached and was promoted to series regular; Novak will continue to drive Ambulance 61 with Violet (Hanako Greensmith).
Chicago Mediterranean
The ED will need a new doctor in Season 10! Dominic Rains will not return as a series regular in the fall, Deadline reports. The final episode of Season 9 saw his character, Dr. Crockett Marcel, take some time off after losing a serious patient (surgery on a young boy was canceled due to infection, after Then he died, and his grieving father later died by suicide), but it looks like he’ll be back. We’ll have to see if he shows up in the Season 10 premiere, then it’s written out or we hear through others that he’s no longer in the hospital.
FBI: International
Following the departure of Luke Kleintank and the loss of Team Fly’s leader, a familiar face to fans of Dick Wolf’s shows is joining the CBS drama. Jesse Lee Soffer will appear as a series regular in Season 4 but will not play Jay Halstead, his character from Chicago P.D., although thanks to FBI-Chicago P.D. crossover in which Tracy Spiridakos plays P.D. Upton character, the two series are firmly established as part of the same universe (as are all Wolf shows).
There are several new cast members joining the NBC drama’s second season in recurring roles. Dionne Gipson will recur as “a character close to Gabi,” Deadline reports. Michael Cassidy will play “a grief counselor with contentious ties to Gabi’s past who shows up to help in a variety of ways,” the outlet also reported. Additionally, Danielle Savre will appear in Season 2 as an undisclosed character, according to TVLine.
Grey’s Anatomy
There are quite a few changes in store for Gray Sloan — and that’s not even counting the tough questions we had after that finale! Jason George is bringing back Ben Warren full-time, following the Station 19 finale; he decided to return to complete his surgical residency. Other upcoming cast changes include Jake Borelli and Midori Francis who have announced their departure in Season 21.
