BBC Casualty airs shock death as character is tragically killed off in devastating twist

Fans of Casualty were left in shock as Rash’s dad was tragically involved in a heart wrenching bus accident as he battled dementia and sadly passed away leaving Rash devastated.

Casualty fans were left devastated after watching doctor Rash Masum break down in tears when he was told of his father’s tragic death.

Things have not been easy for the F1 doctor as he has been looking after his father who is sadly suffering with dementia. And Rash’s day, albeit a busy one in A&E, became even worse when he found out that his father was involved in a bus accident and passed away, despite leaving him in what he thought was the safe hands of Rida Amaan. Rash’s father Ashock had locked himself in his room and became abusive towards Rash and on the advice of Rida, he took time away from the situation and headed into work, leaving his dad in her care.

But while at work, despite it being his day off, Rash found himself in yet another difficult situation as a patient named Wyatt was difficult to diagnose. Rash thought Wyatt had contracted the disease Ebola and as he had been n in contact with him, he was forced to quarantine.

However, back at home, Rida realised that Ashock had gone missing as the front door was left wide open and Ashock was nowhere to be seen. The heart palpitating scene picked up pace as Dylan Keogh brought in a patient that had been hit by a bus – and sadly it was Rash’s dad Ashock.

Speaking about his exit, Derek said: “The time has come for me to hang up Charlie’s scrubs after the most wonderful 37 years. Charlie Fairhead was inspired by a real nurse – Pete Salt. Together with the writers and producers, I have tried to bring to Charlie the compassion, kindness, heroism and sound judgement that we all see and love in Pete and I want to say thanks to Pete and everyone else over that time who has inspired me in bringing this character to life.”

Executive Producer, Jon Sen, had that promised Charlie’s final scenes would be “brilliant.” He said at the time: “Derek and I would often joke that, after such a long and dramatic career in the NHS, there was almost nothing that Charlie hadn’t seen. So it was an amazing surprise to me when Derek arrived with a brilliant idea for Charlie’s exit as part of an upcoming storyline, which was too good to pass up.”

Devastated, Rash lashed out at Rida for not keeping an eye on his father and ordered her to leave the hospital before breaking down in tears. BBC bosses have confirmed that Killing Eve star Manpreet Bachu will play Rash’s cousin Tariq Hussein and will arrive later this year.

Speaking of joining the popular medical drama, Manpreet said: “Joining BBC Casualty is both an honour and an absolute privilege. I’m thrilled to be a part of such an iconic show, the warm welcome and love from everyone has made this experience truly amazing. I can’t wait for the fans to witness Tariq’s unique journey unfold.”

In December last year, fans were heartbroken after they were given a first look at Charlie Fairhead’s final moments on the show. Charlie, played by Derek Thompson, has been a nurse on the show for nearly four decades. He was the only remaining original character from the first episode of the show, which aired back in 1986.
