Viewers will recall that Rash has had a tough couple of months following his dad Ashok’s sudden death earlier this year. Rash has been doing his best to juggle his busy life working as a NHS doctor while dealing with grief and other personal difficulties.

On Saturday’s episode, Rash, who was stressed about his upcoming assessment, hit rock bottom following a shock accusation and a stressful shift. During the tense scenes, Patrick Onley exposed the email that Rash had written to HR. It wasn’t long until Patrick, who fans have taken a disliking too, accused him of being the whistleblower in a shock twist.

As tensions grew, the duo started arguing to which Rash accused Patrick of being secretive with their loud altercation being heard by other members of staff outside. Patrick didn’t take well to Rash questioning him, as he challenged him and it resulted in Rash declaring: “It doesn’t mean that I would do something as explosive as go to the media although maybe to get through to you, I should have.”

Rash was left crushed over his outburst and Patrick accusing him of being the whistleblower. As he stormed out of Patrick’s office, Rida Amaan attempted to comfort Rash but he ignored her kind words.

In a heartbreaking and worrying twist, viewers later saw Rash on the rooftop, watching the footage of Nusraat and Halima in ED, and as he looked down, he fought inner thoughts and backed away, frightened of what he was thinking.

Talking about the emotional storyline and Rash’s future, actor Neet Mohan, who recently celebrated Casualty winning Best Soap at the BAFTA TV awards for the second year in a row, exclusively spoke to the Mirror. The actor, 38, said of the heartbreaking scene: “It was something that we had discussed quite a bit with how we would approach it and how we would try and tell a story like this.

“I think what everyone was quite keen to do, which I think hopefully this show has done and I trust that it has, which was tell this story over such a long period of time to be able to get Rash in this place that he’s currently in. It’s not an overnight thing that’s happened.”

The actor added: “A big part of this story was to chart it from really the kind of very early stages of Rash’s father’s dementia and then all of those pressures and then to lose his dad in that way and lots of other things. So it’s been hugely emotional and taxing.”

Saturday’s episode coincides with Mental Health Awareness Week and Neet said his character’s storyline is such an important one to tell. The actor said: “I hope that what we’ve done is kind of having that room to allow a character to kind of experience all of what he’s experienced over the time that we’ve done will hopefully help tell the story with authenticity.”

The soap star added of Mental Health Awareness Week coinciding with the episode: “It’s great that has happened”, adding: “It’s nice serendipity to coincide with such a meaningful week.”

Teasing Rash’s future after Saturday’s episode, Neet said: “He’s struggling. I’ll just say that he’s struggling”, adding: “He’s finding it quite difficult, that’s an understatement, he’s in a really really vulnerable place.” What will happen next with Rash and will he reach out for help?
