Casualty fans left ‘so happy’ as characters’ dramatic downfall finally sealed

Casualty’s Dylan Keogh finally confronted his Clinical Lead Patrick Onley in the latest episode, and fans were thrilled to see the unpopular character get his comeuppance

Casualty fans were left in awe after Dylan Keogh confronted Patrick Onley and his incompetence.

Dylan (portrayed by William Beck) finally gathered enough proof to challenge Patrick’s (Jamie Glover) questionable medical practices, much to the delight of viewers. The new Clinical Lead has been stirring up trouble since his arrival, with Dylan and his colleague Stevie Nash (Elinor Lawless) determined to uncover his true motives.

After a revealing phone conversation, Dylan confronted Patrick, accusing him of being “a danger” to patients. “With respect, it is you that’s been trying to blame the team for your mistakes,” Dylan angrily declared. He pointed out the damning evidence: “I’ve seen the data, the shift patterns that you worked correlated exactly with the serious patient incidences. It’s like hand in glove.”

Patrick, clearly rattled, retorted defensively: “Well let’s think about that, shall we? Perhaps the reason that I have more serious incidents is because I have to take on the patients that you are incapable of treating. Or perhaps because, like that woman in there, people lie! And when I take on these people, I’m not worrying about what a spreadsheet looks like, I’m worrying about keeping them alive. Perhaps you should too,” he snapped back at Dylan.

Dylan, however, remained unflustered and stood his ground. He stared down his superior and made a daring declaration. “Regardless of what I decide to do, or not to do, I think both of us know that you shouldn’t be working on the floor until the board have been through this. I think you’re a danger. Can you name me three procedures that you haven’t delegated to a junior doctor? ” Dylan asked.

Unfazed, Dylan held his ground and later in the episode, he told Patrick his time was up. After weeks of witnessing him sow discord among the staff, viewers were delighted that it seemed like the beginning of the end for the deeply disliked character, and they took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express their thoughts.

One BBC viewer penned: “I’m so happy that we are hopefully on the path to seeing the back of Patrick, and that Dylan and Stevie’s teamwork has been integral in his downfall #Casualty (sic).”

This only heightened Rash’s distress and led to a heartbreaking confrontation with his cousin. In other news, paramedic Jacob Masters (Charles Venn) was finding it tough juggling childcare for his grandchild and work. He pleaded with Jan Jenning (Di Boctcher) to cut down his shifts.

When she couldn’t meet his request for a month, he handed in his resignation. Unwilling to lose such a valuable team member, she found a solution to his childcare problems that suited them both.

Another chimed in: “Dylan is not just the better doctor but the better person. He could have gloated at Patricks downfall but he’s more concerned about the patient #casualty.” “F*** yes Dylan, save the day! Maybe I was wrong and they’ll hot shot Patrick falling apart rather than drag it out #casualty,” a third fan exclaimed.

A fourth lauded: “Love how focused Dylan is on exposing that Patrick is a danger. #casualty.” Despite Dylan’s best attempts, Patrick’s influence was still felt throughout the episode. He continued to target Rash Masum (Neet Mohan), convinced he was the whistleblower, and even enlisted his cousin, Tariq Hussein (Manpreet Bachu), to help expose him.
