The storyline has us questioning Sonny’s recent decisions, including his harsh treatment of Ava’s mother for getting Alexis disbarred, without ever fully exploring the chemistry between Maurice Benard (Sonny) and Maura West (Ava) as an on-screen couple.
In a heated confrontation, Sonny didn’t just throw a tantrum; he confronted Ava with cold, hard facts as she tried to justify her actions against Alexis. “Who are you to judge?” he asked. “You killed Connie. Maybe I should sign an affidavit against you.” The irony was not lost, coming from a career criminal like Sonny, who has more blood on his hands than he has skin. For Ava fans, it was chilling to hear him bring up Connie’s murder. It wasn’t self-defense or an accident; Ava killed Sonny’s old flame to keep her connection to Julian Jerome a secret.
Sonny also reminded Ava that her family was responsible for the death of his son, Morgan, with Bryan Craig soon to return. Ava, ever the anti-heroine, called Sonny out on his hypocritical behavior, hissing, “Take some responsibility, Sonny.” She pointed out his numerous crimes, including shooting his own son Dante, turning AJ Quartermaine’s son into a drug addict, and hanging Dex from a meat hook. “As far as your many offspring are concerned, there’s only one common factor in all their troubles: you,” she continued.
As Sonny prepares to sue for custody of Avery, the tension is palpable. Could General Hospital really send Ava to prison for Connie’s murder after all these years? It seems unlikely, especially if Sonny is to continue strutting around Port Charles like a respectable businessman. Longtime hitman Jason is still a prominent figure, and Carly is acting like an innocent victim despite her own legal troubles. It feels like the noose is tightening around Ava’s neck, and fans are anxious about her fate.
