Casualty fans heartbroken as Holby reels from Ryan’s attack and new nurse joins

A jam-packed Casualty saw new faces join the ED and old faces despair about recent events while dealing with complex cases.

Casualty followed up last week’s explosive return with an epsiode showing the aftermath of the violent attack on Ryan Firth (played by Eddie-Joe Robinson). Holby ED was still reeling from the assault and Ryan was struggling to cope. Although ED stalwart Charlie Fairhead (Derek Thompson) tried to help him work through it the young nurse wasn’t responsive to him.

Realising that it might take one of his peers to help him he asked Jodie White (Anna Chell) to show him a little TLC. Unfortunately it appeared that he was more traumatised than they realised by what happened as as he checked out of the hospital he started to panic and ultimately resigned.

A furious Stevie Nash (Elinor Lawless) is blaming herself for what happened. But as she laid into Clinical Lead Max Cristie (Nigel Harman) about recent events she was taken aback when he revealed that his kidney was failing and told he that he couldn’t sort out the ED issues on his own.

Elsewhere a new new nurse Ngozi Okoye (Adesuwa Oni) arrived in the ED on a transfer programme from Nigeria. She immediately got stuck in helping a father whose wife had died from carbon monoxide poisoning and making a good impression on the rest of the team.

Unfortunately she also encountered racism from a patient called Mr Stokes on her debut shift. It was left to Charlie to come to the rescue and defend his staff putting the man in his place. He had him systematically thrown out of the ED as he protested his rights.

Rash Masum (Neet Mohan) was struggling to cope with caring for his father as his dementia worsens. This led a cash strapped Rida Amaan (Sarah Seggari) to remind him that she has experience as a carer and offer her services.

Since they have already lied to his father that they are a couple this could make for some awkward moments.

In the midst of the drama there were also some other relationship interludes. Faith Cadogan (Kirsty Mitchell) and Ian Dean (Michael Stevenson shared a moment and it was clear that, despite their break up because of her addiction. there is still a spark between them.

The same couldn’t be said for Teddy Gowan (Milo Clarke) and Paige Allcot (Shalisha James-Davis) whose engagement appears to be well and truly over, which led him to make a very bad decision after a few drinks that will have huge repercussions.

Fans were left reeling from the episode and took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their feelings.

“Poor Ryan he didn’t deserve that,” wrote Tom, while another added a tearful emoji with the comment: “Poor Ryan.”

“Aww Ryan is leaving,” one more lamented, while a fourth said: “No wait I’m actually gonna miss Ryan??”
