BBC Casualty’s Faith Cadogan star teases what’s ahead as she returns to Holby ED

Faith Cadogan returns to Holby ED having taken some time away to get clean of her drug addiction in BBC’s Casualty.

Casualty star Kirsty Mitchell has teased what’s to come for her character Faith Cadogan as she finally returns to work following her drug addiction. Although she has been seen in the show while she got clean, she hasn’t been on the wards, and Saturday (January 27) marks her first time back in her uniform since last September.

However, Kirsty has admitted that Faith will face hurdles as she tries to fit back into the department. Speaking in a video clip posted to the show’s official social media channels, she revealed how her return will be handled.

“When Faith comes back she is not given her full placement as an ACP,” she said. “She initially has to work in reception, which is a bit embarrassing for her.

“She cannot prescribe, she cannot work without supervision… So when things happen in an emergency department and she needs to act quickly she can’t make decisions quickly, she needs to have somebody else there to validate those decisions, which is quite frustrating for her in an emergency situation.

“Because she knows what she’s doing but she has to bite the bullet it’s upsetting for her but she has to understand that she’s been given the chance to come back to work, which is a very fortunate thing for her considering what’s happened. So she just has to take it on the chin,” Kirsty intimated.

The 49-year-old Scottish actress also addressed the relationship between Faith and Iain Dean (Michael Stevenson).

The pair broke up when he discovered that she had lied to him about her addiction but they have had a couple of interactions since that appeared to hint at some frisson between them.

“It’s not a good idea when you’ve come out of rehab to get involved with somebody,” Kirsty said.

“It’s better to be focusing on yourself and your family. She still loves Iain and you can tell it’s still there.

“The two of them still love each other but… They’ve been through so much and it’s not a possibility for her, but she loves him,” she admitted.
