BBC Casualty fans gush ‘amazing’ as star shares behind the scenes clip with stunt double

Casualty star Kirsty Mitchell’s stunt double has worked on some huge Hollywood movies including the most recent Mission Impossible flick with superstar Tom Cruise.

Casualty star Kirsty Mitchell caused huge excitement amonst fans when she shared a behind the scenes look at a stunt from last week’s episode of the BBC medical drama. In shocking scenes the nurse was assaulted by a patient and Kirsty took to Instagram to show her 53,000 followers how the stunt was done.

In the clip she appears to be preparing for a scene but then her voice is heard saying: “It’s me. It’s not me. Why am I speaking in front of the camera and behind it?”

It is then apparent that the person in the shot is actually a stunt double who was standing in for Kirsty in the scene where she was punched to the ground by a patient. Kirsty captioned the clip: “Much respect to our badass stuntwoman on @BBCCasualty this week! The behind-the-scenes action was intense, and she nailed it! Total pro! #Casualty #StuntQueen.”

The stuntwoman in question, Laura Swift, responded: “Thanks for having me back as your stunt double on another great episode @kirstymitchell and thanks for the shout out 🙂 I love coming in to work for you on Casualty! Brilliant job, scene, show & actress x #seeingdouble.”

Laura is an award winning stunt performer who has worked on huge Hollywood blockbusters such as Wonder Woman, Cruella, Death On The Nile and the most recent Mission Impossible movie with Tom Cruise.

@marys_snowflakecreations wrote: “Being assaulted (ironically whilst on Casualty as was back in the day) was what ended my career in nursing. It’s vitally important that these stories are told. I mean we all know it happens but how many understand the far reaching effects both physically and psychologically. Casualty tells it as it is. Much love to the whole team.”

@hannahwwilliams concured saying: “Brilliant episode, really appreciate the show highlighting the stress and strain the NHS is constantly under, as well as the great storylines.”

@sal._.18 gushed: “Woahhhhhhhhh kirstyyyy your stunt double is amaazingggggg xx she looks exactly like youu xx.”(sic)

Meanwhile @alisonthomasbaber commented: “Very interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes. She really does look like you.”

Despite being bruised from the altercation Faith decided not to make a formal complaint about the patient after he begged her not to.

Having sobered up a bit he explained he was a law student and couldn’t practice if he had a criminal record. He said he had only been celebrating passing his exams and apologised profusely.

Stevie was really pushing her to make a formal complaint to police in order to reinforce her zero-tolerance policies, but Faith refused following his explanation.

Actress Kirsty exclusively told Express.co.uk her character’s reasoning saying: “Faith knows that someone’s behaviour on drugs is not reflective of who they really are as a person and how they conduct themselves in everyday life. She knows this from personal experience and would not condemn someone for a mistake they made under the influence.”
