Don’t worry, Mouch didn’t leave Chicago Fire! (Here’s when he’ll return)

Mouch has been MIA in the last few Chicago Fire episodes, but don’t worry he’ll be back soon!

If you’re worrying about Mouch leaving Chicago Fire, don’t worry! While he missed last week’s episode and does not appear in this week’s episode either, we haven’t seen the last of Mouch in the series!

Last week, Severide explained that Mouch was out of town and that Kyle was filling in for him while he was away. As we learned, Mouch headed to Atlanta to take a tech rescue class. The initial assumption was that Mouch was simply going to miss one episode and that the storyline was introduced to explain his absence in episode ten; however, Mouch does not appear in episode 11 either.

After missing two episodes, it’s looking possible that Mouch will also be sitting out the penultimate episode of the season as he’s not mentioned in the synopsis nor does he appear in any photos for the episode. But fear not, Mouch will be back in at least one more episode this season!

Mouch will be in the Chicago Fire season 12 finale

Following a brief break from the show, Mouch will be back in action in the season 12 finale, “Never Say Goodbye,” and it seems like the episode is going to test him in a new way. According to the synopsis for the finale, Mouch struggles to adjust to the new Truck, which hints that Mouch is about to have a rough go upon returning from Atlanta.

It’s going to be interesting to see exactly what Mouch struggles with in particular but the fact that it’s spotlighted in the finale synopsis seems to suggest that it’s enough of a struggle that it was worth promoting as a highlight.

There haven’t been any hints that Christian Stolte is leaving the show, but this is Chicago Fire and no one is ever safe. We already know that Eamonn Walker is stepping back after 12 seasons on the show playing Chief Boden, so we can’t rule out that the finale storyline connected to Mouch won’t have anything to do with a possible exit storyline.

We’ll know for certain what challenges Mouch will face in the season finale, but we’re going to be excited to have him back in action after his brief break.
