On a dramatic day, Chase and Finn had a confrontation that ended with a shocking revelation. The episode began with Jack Brennan calling Anna to his hospital room to inform her about his impending return to Pentonville. Just as he was about to warn Anna about something important, John Kates entered the room. Curious about Annaās visit, John reminded Jack that he was under arrest and any guest visits needed to be reported to him. John questioned Annaās presence, and Jack claimed he just wanted to say goodbye. Frustrated, John left the room.
Once alone, Anna pressed Jack for the real story. Jack revealed that John believed Anna was secretly leading Pikeman. Reflecting on a previous conversation, Jack recalled John questioning him about his connections. Meanwhile, Anna arranged for Jack’s transfer to Pentonville to be postponed, allowing more time for their conversation. Jack warned Anna about Johnās dangerous conviction as a true believer in God and the law, which could justify any behavior in the name of justice.
As their conversation continued, Jack hinted at his lost ideals, and Anna questioned his values and whether he had sold out. Jack responded that while he believed in democracy and good manners, a man ultimately must pay his bills. He criticized John as someone obsessed with justice to the point of self-destruction.
Later, Sam and Spinelli worked together on a covert operation involving Johnās credentials. Using a staged ankle sprain, Sam distracted John at the Metro Court pool while Spinelli retrieved the credentials from John’s bag. After a flirtatious exchange with John, Sam and Spinelli regrouped to examine the information.
Back at Finnās apartment, Chase and Brook Lynn found evidence of Finnās drinking. Concerned about its impact on Violet, they suggested she stay with them. Finn refused, determined to keep Violet close despite their efforts. Chase insisted on speaking to Finn alone, leading to a heated exchange. Chase expressed his fear of losing his brother after their father’s death and urged Finn to acknowledge his problem. Finn, however, adamantly denied being an alcoholic, leading to a tense standoff.
Elizabeth also faced struggles with Finn, leaving a message for Chase to discuss their relationship. Worried about Finn’s inability to cope with Gregory’s death, she informed her sons of the breakup and its potential impact on their relationship with their cousin Violet.
