Chicago Fire star seemingly confirms Carver’s season 13 return

The firefighter’s future was left unclear in the season 12 finale.

Sam Carver (Jake Lockett) is never far from controversy. He almost got fired for defending Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) in season 11, and he’s had arguments with civilians and/or co-workers during his relatively short time at 51. This controversy reared its ugly head during the season 12 finale.

The character was placed on furlough after things got a bit too heated between him, Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney), and new kid Jack Damon (Michael Bradway). To make matters worse, Carver got into a spat with Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith) on his way out, throwing their future as a couple into question as well.

Jake Lockett revealed crucial info on Instagram

Tough times, and Carver fans were rightfully concerned after the season 12 finale. Was he going to come back or would he be forced to hack it as a firefighter somewhere else? It seemed like we were going to have to wait until the season 13 premiere to find out for sure. Fortunately, star Jake Lockett has given us a break. Or at least, the impression of a break.

The actor posted a video of himself golfing alongside Chicago Fire co-star Joe Minoso. The two men start laughing on the green, before they stop and stoically look at each other. The caption provides a bit of a context, and a seemingly major piece of information:

“When you and your buddy are enjoying a game of golf and then remember you’re on rival firehouse apparatuses on TV.”

Carver is still part of Firehouse 51

There you have it. By noting that his character and Minoso’s (aka Joe Cruz) are working on different sides of the same firehouse, Lockett his confirming that he’s still a part of 51. This means that we will get to see him in action again in season 13, and hopefully will get to see him patch things up with Violet.

There was an extra Chicago Fire layer to this Instagram post, as Alberto Rosende was the one who walks past the two men while they’re laughing. Rosende, of course, played Gallo up until his exit in season 12. Rosende won’t be returning anytime soon, but it’s nice to know he’s still close with the current Fire cast.
