What’s coming up in the ED?
Next week on Casualty, Rida tells Rash the truth, while Patrick makes a surprise return to the ED and Jan has a proposition for Jacob.
1. Rida makes a confession
BBC Studios
Rash successfully treats a patient, but he is visibly withdrawn and won’t accept praise from Tariq, having been beaten down by Patrick’s accusations.
Rida notices Rash’s demeanour and decides to come clean; she tells him that she is the whistleblower, and that she will confess to Siobhan too.
Rida is determined to take responsibility for her actions, as she doesn’t want Rash to ruin his career.
2. Patrick returns
Dylan is in a good mood following Patrick’s departure from the ED – after his disastrous handling of the incident involving Leo.
He receives a letter in the post that interests him, and he decides to look at it later.
But he and Stevie are shocked when Patrick shows up unexpectedly and tells them that until the board’s investigation has concluded, he still works at the hospital.
3. Rash takes the blame
Rash delays Rida, and before she can speak to Siobhan, he asks for a word with Patrick and confesses to being the whistleblower himself.
Patrick is pleased to finally have answers and berates Rash for betraying his co-workers.
Rash resigns from his job with immediate effect and then tells everyone that he is the whistleblower, before being escorted out of the hospital by security.
4. Teddy is blindsided
Teddy reports back to Jodie about his meeting, where he admitted that he punched Tyler, and tells her that he will hear the verdict about his job by the end of the day.
Later, he is taken aback when the woman who assaulted him turns up at the hospital, looking to make amends.
But she soon starts playing down the incident again and complains that her life has been ruined since being charged with assaulting an emergency worker, leaving Teddy distressed.
5. The ED comes together
When Rida finds out through Jodie that Rash has confessed and resigned, she rushes to Patrick and tells him she is the whistleblower.
But when he threatens Rida with suspension, one by one all the ED staff confess to being the whistleblower in an act of solidarity.
With Patrick overpowered, it looks possible for Rash to return to work, and Tariq looks to call him to tell him the good news.
6. Jan has an idea for Jacob
Jacob is still set on resigning, so Jan, to try and get him to stay, suggests that he move in with her and Teddy while he gets himself sorted.
However, Jacob turns down her kind offer, saying that he can’t rely on charity.
Casualty airs on Saturday nights on BBC One and now streams first on BBC iPlayer, where episodes are released at 6am on the day of transmission.
